Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information this site collects, why, and how you can ask us to remove it. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@godsversedaily.com.

Information we collect

We only collect what you give us directly, or what's technically necessary to keep the site secure and working:

  • Prayer requests: your name, email address, and the text of your request.
  • Contact form: your name, email address, and message.
  • Newsletter subscription: your email address and your browser-detected timezone (used only to time the daily verse email to your local morning).
  • Donations: the amount, currency, and — if PayPal shares it with us — the payer email address on the transaction. We never see or store your card or bank details; PayPal handles that directly.
  • Technical/security data: your IP address, collected briefly to prevent spam and abuse (rate-limiting, duplicate-vote prevention) — see retention periods below.
  • Cookies: see the Cookies section below.

How we use your information

  • To respond to prayer requests and contact messages.
  • To send the daily verse email and any newsletter you've subscribed to.
  • To process and confirm donations, and show you a receipt.
  • To prevent spam, duplicate submissions, and abuse of public forms.
  • To keep basic security logs (failed admin-login attempts, webhook records) so we can investigate suspicious activity.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

Cookies we use

  • Prayer-vote cookie: remembers which prayer requests you've already prayed for on this device, so you can't vote for the same one twice. Expires after 30 days.
  • Donation receipt cookie: lets the thank-you page show your receipt after a donation, without storing the receipt permanently in your browser. Expires after a short, limited number of page views.

We don't use tracking or advertising cookies unless analytics or ads are explicitly enabled (see below) — and if they are, we'll only load those scripts with a properly configured, privacy-respecting setup.

Third-party services we use

  • PayPal — processes all donations. PayPal's own privacy policy governs any payment data they handle directly.
  • Cloudinary — hosts images, audio, and other media uploaded for this site (e.g. verse artwork, message images). No personal visitor data is sent to Cloudinary.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — protects our prayer, contact, and newsletter forms from automated spam. Google's reCAPTCHA privacy policy and terms of service apply to its use.
  • Email delivery (SMTP) — used to send prayer/contact confirmations, the daily verse email, and newsletters. Your email address is shared only with our email-delivery provider, solely to deliver these emails.
  • Google Tag Manager / Analytics / AdSense — if and when we enable these (they are off by default), they may set their own cookies and collect standard analytics or advertising data under Google's privacy policy. We'll keep this section updated to reflect whether they're active.

How long we keep data

  • Rate-limiting/spam-prevention records (IP addresses tied to prayer, contact, and newsletter form submissions): kept for 1 hour, then automatically deleted.
  • Prayer-vote records (which prevent duplicate "I prayed for this" votes): kept for 30 days.
  • Daily verse email delivery records: kept for 3 days.
  • Prayer requests, contact messages, newsletter subscriptions, and donation records: kept until you ask us to delete them, or until they're no longer needed for the purpose they were collected for.

Prayer requests and publication

Approved prayer requests may be published publicly on this site so others can pray for you — but your email address is never included in anything published or shown to the public. Only your name and request text may appear, and only after we've reviewed it.

Your rights and deletion requests

You can ask us to delete your prayer request, contact message, or newsletter subscription at any time — email hello@godsversedaily.com and we'll remove it. Newsletter subscribers can also unsubscribe instantly using the link in any email we send.

International data transfers

Some of the third-party services we use (PayPal, Cloudinary, Google, our email provider) operate internationally and may process data outside your own country. Each of those providers maintains its own safeguards for cross-border data transfer under its respective privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The version number and "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
